The Ultrasound Suite Ultrasound uses high-frequency vibration to examine a patient's internal organs. It has recently become very refined and is able to give high definition images which can be used in diagnosing cancer. It has the benefit that no radiation is used and very little patient preparation is required. In recent years not only the breast but also other organs such as the liver, thyroid gland and prostate gland are being routinely investigated in this way. It is quick and is often performed as part of routine assessment at one-stop clinics.
